You must dig through a lot of weird foreign music to put together tracks like We No Speak Americano, where do you usually find your samples?

We try to search pretty hard but sometimes, we also just have ideas while driving or going through old records ..Americano came from Johnson’s girlfriend who suggested we sample it ..wait for the next collab with DCUP, points go to anyone that picks the sample

This track is a bit of a break through, was there anything in particular you did differently when putting it together?

Welll, the funny thing is …both us and DCUP, whom we did the track with, have spent MUCH more time on other tracks, but this one kinda happened quite quickly …and if you listen to it, it’s actually really really simple …so maybe we need to spend less time on things. Hahaha.

When and where was the dance floor you dropped the track to and what was the reaction?

Hmm …good question. We sometimes give tracks to friends and let them play them …so I can’t remember when we first played it, but i do remember getting an email from a friend in Adelaide we gave it to and her saying that it was the biggest track of the night, so i guess that was a good start . And that was the unmixed, unmastered version.

Do you listen to 98.5FM? Do you think we need more foreign music in Sydney? If you are lucky enough to catch the Macedonian program on Friday nights they sometimes play some wicked ethnic tunes. Here’s their program http://www.2000fm.com/program_guide.htm

Finally, do you have any Groupie experiences you can tell us? (doesn’t have to be one of ‘those’ experiences!)

It’s a great read…hahah. Well, we both have girlfriends so not really any of “those” kind of experiences but we were pretty stoked to play at The Laundry the other week before Solo and have people in the crowd screaming out to us to play villalobos for presidente…that was good enough for us
