YEASAYER LEAK NEW ALBUM IN ONLINE TREASURE HUNT

Overnight Brooklyn cool kids Yeasayer leaked their album online for fans via an online scavenger hunt.  The album came in drip feeds as individual video clips for each new song from the band’s new album, “Fragrant World.” Through a series of bizzare and cryptic tweets like “Computer, load up Celery Man please” and “Shhhhh. Be Quiet, the Demon has risen”, the band sent their fans to websites across the web that contained links to the YouTube videos of the songs. All the videos are by Japanese artist Yoshi Sodeoka.

The decision to release the album in this way was because Chris Keating, Ira Wolf Tuton and Anand Wilder had received intel their album was going to be leaked. The band decided they’d rather do it their way, so decided to the jump the gun and launch a clever little game for fans to play.

“We have received message that we are on the verge of embargoed information being leaked through the cracks of the digital universe. Once again an attempt to tell the story before our mouths can spit,” the band said in a letter to fans. “Using the talents of Yoshi Sodeoka, we have created a moving visual for every song on our new album Fragrant World  and have hidden them all over the Internet. The visuals will live on the web until Friday at 8 p.m. EST. You’ll have a few days to find, listen, and most importantly, hear the album from our hands first.”

Here’s the track listing:

1. Fingers Never Bleed
2. Longevity
3. Blue Paper
4. Henrietta
5. Devil and the Deed
6. No Bones
7. Reagan’s Skeleton
8. Demon Road
9. Damaged Goods
10. Folk Hero Schtick
11. Glass of the Microscope

We’ve gone to the trouble of listing the videos below… Get in quick they’ll be taken down by Saturday. Or you can ignore the below, get on the band’s twitter feed and scavenge for the tracks yourself. Either way we say “Yay”!
