American website Nerve has just published their list of the sexiest men and the sexiest women in indie rock. No doubt, it’s a decent pair of lists in a very subjective field. Their girls list includes Alexis from Sleigh Bells (babe), Santigold (babe) and Chan Marshall of Cat Power (mega babe), with Annie Clark of St Vincent topping the list; the boys countdown is headed by Kele from Bloc Party, alongside Michael Kiwanuka, Anana Wilder (Yeasayer), Michael Angelakos (Passion Pit) and Brian Fallon (Gaslight Anthem).

But it got us thinking – who would have made OUR list of the biggest babes and dude-babes in music today? In our mind, Nerve’s list has some glaring omissions from the brimming babe-o-sphere that is the indie world today, so we’ve put our heads together to make a pair of comprehensive lists; the below is our ‘sexiest females in music,’ and next week we’ll be showing off our ‘sexiest males’. For total ease of creeping, we’ve also made the above gallery to illustrate and reinforce our point. Don’t worry, thank us later.

What do you think? Anyone you would have included? Think we’re wrong? Tell us below in the comments section!

Lana Del Rey
Lana cops a lot of flak. For lips, her hair, her lips, her nose, her lips and her lips. Truthfully, she’s like the “Jerry’s two-faced date” of the indie world. Remember that episode of Seinfeld where Jerry dates a girl who looks amazing in the light, but – to put it mildly – not so amazing in the shadow? That’s Lana. In that winking photo above: mega babe. In other photos: not so much.

Alexis Krauss (Sleigh Bells)
Next up in the GCCOBADBIMT is Alexis, of Sleigh Bells. Yeah she’s got the slightly man-like build going on, but oh MAN (gr8 pun, right?) what a babe. The dirty grunge-y look, amazing eyes, she (crowd)surfs like Kelly Slater and her band does Slayer rip-off shirts. What’s not to like here?

Caroline Polachek (Chairlift)
The GCCOBADBIMT just keeps rollin’ rollin’ rollin’ with Caroline Polachek. Chairlift are one of my favourite bands at the moment. I could say it’s not because of frontwoman Caroline… but I’d be lying. She has this weird hippie/hipster chick vibe going on, but you can tell she’d be one of those girls who’d be all like “eww don’t even talk to me unless you can recite the full works of Camus.”

Claire Boucher (Grimes)
Edgy and cool, Claire Boucher isn’t the classic type of beauty. She’s like Caroline of Chairlift, in that she seems like the coolest person on the planet; brutal short fringe, heavyset eyebrows, and a crazy intense stare. Strangely attractive.

Hayley Williams (Paramore)
It’s universally acknowledged that Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams is the biggest babe in punk. She’s spunky and cute and feisty, and there’s something cool about a girl mixing it up with the boys in the punk game.

Jenna McDougall (Tonight Alive)
Pretty much everything I said about Hayley Williams can apply to Jenna, of Sydney pop-punk band Tonight Alive. She’s fun, feisty, cute and beating the boys at their own game. Plus she’s more punk than Hayley, rocking flannos and ripped jeans like it’s no-one’s business. Plus she’s Aussie – so bonus points.

Alice Glass (Crystal Castles)
Alice Glass is kinda dangerous. She crowdsurfs like a maniac and shrieks like a banshee, her face is smeared with black makeup and a boys-style cropped haircut; but as if you can even deny that she’s a babe. The crazy goth doll thing she’s rocking is interesting. You’d go there.

Azealia Banks
Ahhh man, the cutest little smile in the business. Azealia’s funky, feisty, in-your-face atittude is setting the world alight, with her Mickey Mouse jumpers and cheeky smile becoming trademark. She’s not afraid to dress up and look outrageous – like a hip-hop Katy Perry (see below)

Katy Perry
Do we really have to say anything here? Really?
Pretty much the babe-ing-est babe on the babe countdown. She looks like such a dork in all her pictures, her hair is always ridiculous, she seems like the nicest girl on the planet and you know she’d probably want to make a pillow/blanket fort with you.

Part 2 coming next week!
