As we are hit by the last wave of pseudo-disco and music that supposedly seems to make everything shimmer, a little two piece known as The Golden Filter are trying to create something that could be seen as much more lasting. The mysterious New York City duo, known only as Penelope and Stephen, talk 70s art direction, music collaborations and philosophy, exclusively with pages.
How did The Golden Filter come about?
“We wanted to inspire people to use their imaginations in the same way that people in the 70s had to rely on the visuals of an album cover to help tell the full story. We are both fans of 70s and 80s electronic music, so we wondered if there was a way to encourage people to look a little bit deeper, and so The Golden Filter was born.”
Are there other things that bond you both?
“Well we have a lot of similar interests in film, photography and philosophy, despite growing up on different sides of the world (Australia / Midwest USA).”
