The speed of light may be unrivalled, but photographer and light artist James Tapscott manages to capture it at its most transcendent. Brightening the walls of Kaleidoscope Gallery this month is Synthesis, an exhibition of Tapscott’s work exploring the uneasy balance of splendor and terror in nature. The extremes of the environment are seen in their bold beauty with the artist’s elaborate installations punctuating the terrain. In this way, the works in Synthesis observe the capricious, co-dependent relationship between man, the seasons and the natural environment.
Synthesis illuminates Kaleidoscope Gallery, 3-7 Dank St. Waterloo, from opening night, October 20 at 6:00pm. On October 22, artist James Tapscott will discuss the photographic journey behind the exhibition to an audience. Tickets, $10, are inclusive of a book and wine.
