After the mega-success of last year’s epic instalment, organisers of Splendour In The Grass have confirmed that the winter festival will stay at Woodford for 2011.
After moving from its’ spiritual home in Byron Bay to the picturesque, sprawling surrounds of Woodford in 2010, Splendour co-producers Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco announced that the three-day festival will once again be held north of the Queensland-NSW border. Set to happen from July 29th-31st, the historically world-class festival – which has boasted headliners from The Strokes and LCD Soundsystem and The Flaming Lips, to Bloc Party and Sigur Ros – is rumoured this year to host Coldplay, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Radiohead. But definitely no Arcade Fire as they recently posted tour dates on their site that show they will be in Canada and the U.S on these dates
Despite initial worries about damage caused to the site during January’s devastating floods in Queensland, Ducrou and Piticco were quick to allay any concerns about the ability of the location to host Splendour.
“We wouldn’t be announcing Woodfordia as the location for the 2011 Splendour In the Grass festival if we weren’t completely confident that was the case,” they stated today.
