Shoot and Share: the story in full

In December, we appointed two teams to Shoot and Share one story. Our idea was to pass the story between them, one chapter at a time, with only the last ten seconds of the previous chapter as their inspiration. The only rules we gave the two teams were that at the end of each chapter, they had to introduce a new character, and the camera would have to be transferred to them for the next chapter in the story. They then had 24 hours to write, shoot and edit the whole chapter together.

After a shout-out and call for entries, we appointed Seaton Kay-Smith and Nick Hunter, two aspiring actors, screenwriters and filmmakers, and Alex Goddard, a professional director, to take part in the competition.

We were expecting something… interesting. What we got was certainly original. Funny. A bit weird. But always entertaining. We hope that you’ve enjoyed the chapters as much as we have as we have posted them to the Groupie blog and Samsung Capture blog throughout the last two weeks.

Our judging panel met to determine which of the two teams would be declared the ultimate winner of the campaign, based on the criteria of originality, creativity, storyline development, and adherence to the brief that we gave them at the start of every chapter. In the end, it was a very close call, but we’re please to announce that Seaton and Nick just edged out Alex. In the end, we felt that they guys added a level of quirky humour and entertainment that was on another level, giving them the nod from our judging panel.

Nick and Seaton
Nick and Seaton have each won a Samsung U10 HD Camcorder, and will also have an interview with the Groupie editorial team in the new year with a view to publishing their work and their story in the February issue. Pagesdigital will also look to commission the guys for more work in 2010, so you’ll see more of them in the future!

And just in case you’ve missed any of the story, you can watch the whole six chapters, back-to-back, here:

The Shoot and Share story was developed by Alex Goddard, Nick Hunter and Seaton Kay-Smith, using the Samsung U10 HD Camcorder. Shoot and Share in HD at Samsung Capture.
