SALON SAVVY: BRAD NGATA’S DOWNTOWN SALON

Sydney celeb-snipper, Brad Ngata, has thrown open the doors of his new downtown-style Darlinghurst salon in Sydney. Architects Scott Weston and Gregory Phillips were given the design brief to create a “chic, Tom Ford meets Miami retreat” in the three-storey sandstone terrace. As Brad himself says, the pair “nailed it” with design features such as custom jewel-encrusted wallpaper, imported black multi-textured tiles and the 15-foot hot-pink concrete wall emblazoned with a neon sign exclaiming “you’re the star, sweetheart!”

Starting out with one chair and a borrowed mirror, the award-winning hairdresser has come a long way and the new salon is testament to his dedication. Calling it the salon of his dreams, the salon utilises the cream of the crop when it comes to hair care, including L’Oréal Professional, Kérastase and Shu Uemura Art Of Hair, being one of the only salons in the country to offer the luxuriously sublime Shu Uemura Ceremonies, considered the ultimate in hair salon experiences.
