MONEY NEVER SLEEPS

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, the sequel to Oliver Stone’s 1987 feature film, is released in Australia in September. The film will see the return of Michael Douglas’ iconic “Greed is Good” Gordon Gekko character after the the banker has been released from jail after 23 years behind bars. In his 2008 reincarnation, Gekko tries to warn the world about the impending financial crisis. Sounds enthralling, yes, but we’re more interested in the updated 80s power dressing! It certainly helps if you look like Charlie Sheen in a grey corporate suit or Daryl Hannah with her cat claw nails, sheer black hose and shoulder pads to boot. While you may think Wall Street is a place fashion goes to die, Oliver Stone’s slick 1987 film about financial con men, left us desiring the era evoking out fits and interiors (synthetic green exposed brick décor.) This September Douglas is back as Gordon Gekko with Carey Mulligan (not as fierce as Hannah) playing his daughter in a new wave of corporate chic with Shia LeBeouf as her financial fiance. Here we look at Wall Street style, past and present… Put your money where your mouth is!
