The Overseas Passenger Terminal was transformed into a black tiled space, which wouldn’t look out of place on an international runway. Definitely our favourite runway space so far. Clean grey marle paired with white jersey opened the show, followed closely by geometric cutaway jackets with panels of perforated leather. Georgette blazers have been a bit of a trend this week, and Manning Cartell showed one of the best versions yet.
Next up was some beautiful lace work with a soft tulle backing, shown on tops and a good asymmetric number. Broaderie Anglaise featured in a three piece suit, resplendent with a silver edged beaded bib. Prints a plenty were also on show, with one reminiscent of a hand drawn pastel drawing, and another in graphic black and white.
A new direction for Manning Cartell was evident towards the end of the show, with Spanish national dress inspired looks charging down the runway. A particular favourite was the white ensemble covered in all over black beading, complete with perfect crisp white shirt and black lace bib. As the music built, so did the energy in the room. A big mention to go to the amazing hair and makeup, combined with incredible Perspex accessories, worn both in the hair and in the ears. It was great to leave the show and hear so many positive comments from the departing crowd.
