The new Louis Vuitton campaign is out of this world beautiful. It’s the first ‘grown up’ series of shots to be seen in a long while, especially in an advertising world where ‘sex sells’. Marc Jacobs made a strong point about women in his AW show, especially by bringing back old supers to the catwalk… Mainly Elle McPherson. Interestingly, none feature in this campaign. Whilst Christie Turlington, Karen Elson and Natalia Vodianova are obviously incredible, none were cast for the show. What we have here is a less than subtle nod to 50s womanly glam, perfected with just right hair styling and ladylike accessories. The gowns could almost be mistaken for original post war New Look, albeit with much lower necklines. Floral is juxtaposed with check, sequins with leather, and the classic monogram vernis speedy has had a flocked makeover. We are thrilled that someone has taken a risk and branched out from the increasingly boring sex sells attitude. Chic for 2010!
