She’s one of the most blogged about artists in recent times, someone who everyone has an opinion about – whether it be for her highly stylised videos, musings about love, or at times crazed melodramatic heartbreak ballads. She is Lana Del Rey (real name: Lizzie Grant) and all this week, we’re delivering you slices of factual Lana Del Rey goodness, celebrating the fact that her debut album ‘Born To Die’ comes out this week.
We’re aiming to unearth things you haven’t read about already (what’s her favourite video game, we hear you ask?), in all the hundreds of articles, blogs, and interviews out there, to try and paint a more accurate picture of the artist who seemingly came out of nowhere, but who already looks like one of the brightest talents of the year.
Today’s Lana fact has to do with one of the things she is most passionate about in the world. The one thing that inspires her the most on the planet. According to Lana, “I’m not all that passionate about a lot of things in my life, but this is definitely one of those things.”
Clue: It’s the city she was born in, but moved out of as a child, only to rejoin again at age 18.
Did you guess New York?
Then you guessed right…
“I’ve been in the city for, I don’t know, seven or eight years,” tells Lana, “And although I grew up in Lake Placid, I’m definitely still a city girl through and through. It amazes me every single day.”
‘Born To Die’ is out Friday 3 February; pre-order it here. And stay tuned for our interview with Lana in the new issue of Groupie Magazine – out this Wednesday, and of course, more Lana facts all this week.
