“I’ve never worn a scent,” actress Kristen Stewart recently told WWD. The Twilight actress, thus, was a somewhat unconventional choice as the face for Balenciaga’s latest fragrance Florabotanica. Shot by Steven Meisel, the resulting imagery is a vibrant collision of colour and texture that is a world away from the minimalist serenity of past efforts starring the effortless It-ness of Charlotte Gainsbourg.
The new scent is a youthful outing for Nicolas Ghesquière’s label. A fiercely contemporary floral, it is based on a 2008 collection that saw the “nice” contrasted with the “nasty”. Better, I suppose, than the lingering aroma of werewolf.
