New York quintet Freelance Whales have given Devo’s ‘Girl U Want’ a folky reworking for Record Store Day. Signed to local label Dew Process, the Queens band have converted Devo’s hit into a sad, wistful ballad, swapping out some of the synths for a bit of banjo action, leaving us feeling all fuzzy and reflective.

The track was released alongside their upcoming tour mates Foals’ cover of Swedish House Mafia’s ‘One’ on a limited edition split 7 inch for Record Store Day, and will also be on sale at their forthcoming tour.
