Groupie’s New Photographer Struts Her Stuff

Our new photographer Jade Cantwell – winner of our Olympus photographer competition, had her first assignment at the Decoder Ring show last Friday night at the Metro.

Pumped and ready to shoot after a couple of mentoring sessions with Chris Samuel, she took some fantastic shots of the band in action, including our fave (pictured above) which we think captures the spirit of the band and the show superbly.

Jade checks in with her experience of the show:
“It’s hard to believe Decoder Ring have been absent from the live music scene for some time, as they returned to the Metro stage confidently with an onslaught of sound and projected images guaranteeing sensory overload for everyone in attendance. With a mix of old and new songs, they oscillated from intense catharsis and walls of sound to stripped back, soft and simple tracks which were illustrated visually by the film projections covering the entire stage. With Sydney band Bridezilla in support, displaying their musical prowess despite their age, the entire evening reminded everyone of how beautiful and emotionally connected music can be”.

Jade is shooting with the new Olympus PEN which eyeball here.

Can’t wait to see more from her.
