GOTYE ANNOUNCES AUS TOUR

Our Gotye is coming home. He’ll be concluding the biggest year ever for him (and Australia music abroad for a long while) with a series of shows in December. This will be the first chance Aussie fans will have had to see the singer-songwriter-general-music-nerd since the spate of live shows late last year, just before he began topping charts around the globe.

‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ spent an amazing 8 weeks at the top of the US charts and has only just been knocked off by Carly Rae Jespen’s ‘Call Me Maybe’ (see here why this makes perfect sense). This 8 week jaunt at the top of the Billboard 100 places Gotye equal with the Bee Gees’ ‘Stayin’ Alive’ as having the second longest run on top of the charts, second only to Olivia Newton John’s ‘Let’s Get Physical’, which stayed at the lofty height of number 1 for 10 weeks (true story, the 80s was kind to Liv). This officially makes Gotye Australian pop music royalty.
