According to Saskwatch’s Liam McGorry, the Melbourne nine-piece’s new single ‘Born To Break Your Heart’ is about “a darker side of relationships and losing control“. I’m not sure what kind of relationships these legends have been, but after watching the accompanying video for the track, I want to give them each a hug. Because the visual feast that we are exclusively premiering today is both bloody brilliant and brilliantly bloody.
Explains director Jesse Smith:
The Born to Break Your Heart film clip follows the police exploration of a shocking crime scene at a motel in the 1980s. We intercut VHS and 4K HD footage to create a sharp visual contrast between reality and the twisted perspective of our ruthless killer … Nkechi (Saskwatch lead lady). The other members of Saskwatch never stood a chance. The mismatched film formats and clashing character perspectives are mashed and pulped together to create a beautifully messy spectacle.
And he’s totally right – the result is indeed a beautifully messy spectacle (with guts and everything – fuck yes!), complementing the mood of this gorgeous slow-burning ballad absolutely perfectly.

‘Born To Break Your Heart’ is the latest single off Saskwatch’s sophomore LP, Nose Dive, which will be released on April 11th via Northside Records/Remote Control. Show them some love when it comes out lest you end up like the dudes in the clip.
