According to their former manager, Daft Punk apparently had little to do with Disney’s forthcoming new Tron: Legacy remix album, R3CONFIGUR3D.
Busy P, who used to manage the French robotic duo, took to his website to post his disappointment with Disney for releasing such a “sad” side project.
He wrote:
“Dear Disney people, [...] How can you take my robots friends so far away from good taste? I am 100% sure the Daft boys were not involved in this side (sad) project. [...] A masterpiece like TRON soundtrack deserved the best and I am sad to discover the A&R at Disney records is apparently buying most of his electronic music in airports stores…”
The album, which features remixes of Daft Punk’s original work for the Tron score by producers like Boys Noize, Moby, Paul Oakenfold, and the Crystal Method, is due for release on April 18, but it looks like Daft Punk didn’t have a say in the selection process. Busy P went on to post a rejected remix by Belgian DJ Goose, writing: “This should have been the kind of great re-interpretation of Daft Punk’s music featured on this compilation.”
