FASH FILM: ‘CONCERTINA’

One of the shows we loved last week was the annual Fashion Design Studio showcase. Every year a few designers are selected on the basis of their graduation range and chosen to participate in a group show at fashion week. This has launched the careers of many, including Dion Lee and Christopher Esber who took part in 2008. Just look where they are now! This year, The Innovators show consisted of six young designers – the largest group ever. It must have been hard for head teacher Nicholas Huxley... read more

HEY BABY!

That the fash pack fetishise youth isn’t news to anyone who’s ever flipped through an issue of Vogue, but the summer edition of i-D magazine goes one step further— gestation, it seems, is the new black. Sultry Carine spawn and tireless slashie (model, consultant and art director are all strings to her very lengthy bow) Julia Restoin Roitfeld stars nursing... read more

ANNIVERSAIRE A.P.C.

Whether it be a Breton top with just the right balance of classic and cool, or the devastatingly Gallic je ne sais quoi of a perfectly practical trench, French label A.P.C. has that certain something that can’t really be vocally expressed. To get it, it really needs to be worn. Established by designer Jean Toitou in 1988, A.P.C.’s  longstanding commitment to quality and understated chic has seen it successfully through twenty-five... read more

BURBERRY: FOUR BANDS, FOUR CITIES, FOUR NIGHTS

As we have spoken about in the past, Burberry is so onto it when it comes to digital marketing. The latest campaign for Burberry eyewear is testament to that. They have enlisted the help of four up and coming British musicians – One Night Only, Marika Hackman, Life in Film and The Daydream Club – and had them record tracks exclusively for Burberry. Each musician was handpicked by Christopher Bailey and reflect the brand’s heritage of supporting upcoming British talent.

The campaign... read more

FASH FLASH: WE ARE HANDSOME

CLOTHING: The usual high octane swimwear We Are Handsome have become known for. There were some great new prints this season, including a huge lion, a beach seen from South America, jellyfish and cute retro tape players. The vibe was very 70s Malibu/Palm Springs with long flowing cover-ups, icy poles and high waisted bikini bottoms.

STYLING: The aforementioned icy poles were a cute addition to Jolyon Mason’s styling. The look was actually kept quite... read more

FASH FLASH: JENNY KEE

!CLOTHES: This was the show we were most looking forward to this week, and also Jenny Kee’s first show since 1981! Now for 2012, Kee has once again started her namesake label, however she is now focussing on scarves utilising all her favourite iconic prints. The models were all arranged on podiums wearing artfully draped and tied scarves, surrounded by magnificent Australian flora. Incredible! STYLING: Romance Was Born took... read more
