Bianca Spender is one of our go-to labels for special events, even though all the clothing is just as appropriate for dressy day-wear. There is a refined elegance that is hard to find in many Australian labels, especially coupled with an easy-to-wear sensibility. Spender sometimes flies under the radar compared to other big Australian labels, but is always quietly working away doing her thing in a very ‘non-showy’ way. We prefer it like this however, meaning we get to keep a little bit of Spender for ourselves! The latest lookbook is proof that she is one of the most sophisticated designers we have in our fair country.

Shot on location at Clovelly, ‘Chrysalid’ explores notions of fragility through colour and texture. Spender’s favourite fabrications of linen and silk are seen in bright jewel-toned hues, punctuated by powedery lilacs, fresh whites and soft nude tones. This mix means there is something for everyone, and every occasion. We love the billowing cape flowing off the back of a silk satin sheath just as much as we love the cute brocade shorts. The whole collection can be summed up in one word – fresh.

Lucky for us, Bianca Spender has just launched her e-boutique, so we can shop from the safety of our desk (or bed) from now on. Head to the website to cast your eyes over the entire SS2012 collection
