BASSIKE HIGH SUMMER SHOWINGS

Bassike is pretty much our favourite brand for, well, basics! The fabrications are always quietly luxurious, with all organic fibers being used. The t-shirts go with anything, and just sheer enough to be light and cool, without being totally see through. The collection we went to see was not the same as the one shown for fashion week back in May, but new mini collections that will be dropping into store all summer long. The showroom was set above what is to be Bassike’s brand new residency on Glenmore Rd, right next to our other favourite, Acne.

The ranges are the perfect reflection of what is about to happen with the weather – well hopefully! Spring sees a great deal of light greens, taupes, blue denim, and some black and white stripe, adorning simple t-shirt shifts, harem pants and swimsuits. We love colour blocking so the fact that all the garments come in almost all the same colour shades is very exciting! Green on green here we come! Bassike’s signature ‘Universal Jean’ is also back, albeit slightly baggier, for the perfect spring jean – boyfriend style.

First summer has more tans, washed out pinks, khakis and a beautiful watercolour print. Raw hem edges play a large part in the Bassike collections, especially in soft cotton voiles and light eight silk. We love it teamed back with a raw edge khaki drawstring short. Simple yet chic beach attire! We must confess though… We are in love with high summer. The candy pop colours of pinks and aqua are screaming for some summer love. This is the kind of clothing you should be wearing to beat the heat. Bright, loud and fun. The menswear collection echoes the women’s, so get ready for some matching looks in Bondi/Avalon this summer. In another successful attempt to have a monopoly on the leisure wear market, Bassike have teamed up with Haviana’s to create their own signature pair. Black on white with their circle logo. Very cute!

Well, we love the whole range and are excited (scared) for the new shop to open. We are told September 13 is the day. Get your credit card at the ready.
